Elementary School in Rehab, Liberia
We are excited to launch Hope Builds, our financial campaign to raise funds for a school building in Liberia! Our first covenant partner, Covenant Ministries, Inc, is the beneficiary. They have faithfully run a school, Covenant Mission Academy (CMA) for twelve years in the community of Rehab, Liberia, and been in the community for over fifteen. Would you consider also partnering with us in raising $125,000 over the coming twelve months?
The back story: CMA is stuck where they are: operating in various capacities in the community for years, and yet unable to grow and legitimize their “business” of running a school because their space does not meet Liberia’s Ministry of Education requirements. Their heart is for the shaping and nurturing of young minds but in order for this to be sustainable, they have to overcome these hurdles of funding and real estate. This is Covenant International’s vision: to work alongside a community organization to overcome a hurdle or to become “unstuck” in the valuable work they are doing. Real estate prices are shockingly high, especially in Rehab. The president of Liberia has a Rehab address, for good or bad! When our team visited in the spring of 2023, we looked at some properties. We are now praying for God’s guidance and wisdom as to whether we buy land and a building or land so we can build. Buying land to build most likely means moving out of Rehab and losing the current student population. We would all prefer that the new location is close to where CMA is currently operating.
